FINE FORM

Fine Form's all about having a great time and staying in control when you're having a few drinks. To make sure you enjoy yourself to the full, here's a few drinking tips worth keeping in mind.

  1. Pour Four

Fellas, to make sure you stay in tip top form now, and in the future, those in the know recommend an average of no more than 4 standard drinks a day, no more than 28 standard drinks in a week, not more than 6 standard drinks in any one day and to be on the safe side 1 or 2 alcohol free days a week. If you want to know more check out The Australian Alcohol Guidelines, www.alcohol.gov.au

  2. Ladies, Ladies

Ladies, for a whole host of tricky scientific reasons, your bodies cannot process alcohol as effectively as the fellas. To make sure you stay in fine form now, and in the future, those in the know recommend an average of no more than 2 standard drinks a day, no more than 14 standard drinks in a week, no more than 4 standard drinks in any one day, and to be on the safe side 1 or 2 alcohol free days a week.

  3. Good Foundations

Alcohol moves through your system faster on an empty stomach so remember to have a chicken schnitty or steak and chips before you start your night, and it doesn't hurt to have a snack when you're with your mates having a drink either.

  4. H200000H

Drinking water between drinks helps to keep you hydrated. Also have a few drinks of water at the end of the night and you won't wake up with the proverbial sore head. Of course, if you drink to excess, not even water is going to help that pounding headache!

  5. Nigel, No mates

Drinking to excess over a long period of time can lead to some serious effects on your future form. No one wants to have a night out with an old mate who can't remember who you are, can't stomach a meat pie and whose breath smells like Jonno's unwashed footy socks!

  6. Mates Management

When you're on a night out always keep an eye out for your mates. If they are getting sloppy then encourage them to take it easy and have a water or a softie and if it's time to hit the road make sure you call them a cab.

  7. Interesting Stuff

A Bundy & Cola or Bundy Dry & Lime can is 1.5 standard drinks, a Bundy & Cola stubby or Dry & Lime stubby has 1.3 and a mid strength is 1 standard drink. So do your maths before you head out and make sure you know what's in your drink. Alcohol affects blokes in many ways beyond the obvious, so drink in moderation.
